Great news for cooks who like to wander! You can now extend your MeatNet™ coverage to anyplace with internet.
Are you off to Burma or just a daylight basement on the other side of your house? The brisket doesn’t need to know.
What you’ll need:
- A Combustion Predictive Thermometer (CPT)
- An internet-connected device and the Combustion App (“home”) to upload data - this device must be linked to your CPT and connected to the local MeatNet (Bluetooth)
- Another internet-connected device with the Combustion App to view data remotely (“away”)
MeatNet Cloud
How it works
Sign in to your account on both devices.
Leave the “home” device within Bluetooth range of your local MeatNet network and connected to the internet.
Set your cooking parameters (target temp and SafeCook™) from either device - while they are still connected via Bluetooth.
Now you can view live data on the “away” device, from anywhere with an internet connection.
For cooking control, you must use a device within MeatNet (Bluetooth) range (“home”).
With the “away” app you can view:
- Current temps at all 8 sensors (advanced mode)
- TrueCore™
- TrueSurface™
- TrueAmbient™
- Target temp (cooking to)
- SafeCook setting and status
- “Ready in” time to cook prediction
- Time elapsed
- Graphs
You also get notifications and can export cook data while viewing remotely.
Set-up instructions:
LINK APP TO THERMOMETER:
- Install/update the Combustion app on both mobile devices (iOS) (Android)
- Follow app instructions for linking CPTs to your account
- Look for the “link this device” button
- Follow the instructions to link
- Link all of your CPTs to your device
THEN USE MEATNET CLOUD:
- Create a MeatNet Cloud account*. You can sign in with email (+password), Google ID, or Apple ID (on Apple/iOS devices only)
- Sign into to your account on both devices
- Once you’ve set up your Cloud account, the list of “linked” CPTs gets synched to any device using that account
- Cook with the CPT as you normally would - your “home” mobile device (in MeatNet range) will stream data to the cloud and you can download that anywhere with internet
*NOTE: You may already have an optional Combustion Store account. That account is unrelated (used for shopping/order history). Create a new login for the Combustion MeatNet account, and don't autofill using your previously saved password. Thanks!

Can I change my target temp while “away”?
Not in the current version. Use the home device (connected to the local MeatNet over Bluetooth) to set a target core temp (predict) and SafeCook™ target. You can also set the prediction target temp using a Combustion Display.
Can I download cook data from expired sessions?
Cook history is being captured, but you can only view/download current cook data (for now). Cook history is stored in the cloud as CSV files. You will eventually be able to download those using the app, for use in analyzing and perfecting your cooking techniques. The app preserves your current/last cook history (CSV + graph) until you either close the app or start a new cook.
In the near future, you’ll be able to access any of your cook data that has been uploaded.
Why do I need an account?
See above. We want to save your cook history - for YOU. So you can look at your cooking data and learn; fine-tune that recipe, track your pork butt progress, all that wonderful stuff. Don’t panic - it’s one and done, no obligation, no ads, no lists, none of that nonsense. It’s to put an ID on your data for your own convenience. Kind of like having a library card.
Other questions?
Write in your questions to support@combustion.inc or (this is faster) look it up on our subreddit. There'll be heaps of discussion there.
